Aston Villa defender Pau Torres has been linked with a move away from the club in recent weeks.
The defender is reportedly a target of Barcelona but may have to pay a premium to seal the deal. According to former Premier League scout Brian King, the defender is worth £50m.
How much does Barcelona cost to learn Pau Torres?
The Spanish team would need to pay more than his current valuation to get a deal done. Barcelona are in financial trouble and are highly unlikely to pay more than £50 million for the Aston Villa defender. It will be interesting to see if they move on to other goals.
Manager Brian King told Villa News: “He’s worth £50 million and Villa have no intention of letting him go.”
“Why would you let one of the best players on your team go in the middle of a season, unless it’s for major money?
“I think it will cost over £50 million, but I don’t think he will go.
“They can forget about it because he is playing for Aston Villa and has a contract.
“He will stay at Aston Villa unless he pays an exorbitant amount of money.”
Villa should keep Torres
Aston Villa have had a great season so far and are very much involved in the title race. They need to keep their key players in order to maintain their place in the table and perform well in the second half of the campaign. It would be a wise decision to keep the Spanish defender at the club until the end of the season.
It remains to be seen whether Barcelona decide to test the West Midlands club’s resolve with a January offer. However, transfer seems to be quite difficult. Unless the defender decides to force a move away from Aston Villa, it is highly unlikely that he will move in January.
Torres attracted the attention of Real Madrid last season.
