Ake has found it difficult to start regularly for Man City this season, mainly due to manager Josep Guardiola’s thick defensive rotation.
While the 30-year-old remains a trusted member of the team, his role has often been more of a reliable option than a first-choice starter.
Ake has appeared in 13 games in all competitions so far, with most of his minutes coming in domestic cup competitions rather than in the Premier League.
