  • Tottenham could target Man City winger
  • Spurs want offensive and defensive reinforcements

Tottenham Hotspur are preparing for an active January transfer window and are reportedly willing to invest up to £150m to rebuild their squad and reignite their season.

According to The Sun, Spurs bosses are willing to provide head coach Thomas Frank with significant financial support to address glaring weaknesses in both attack and defence.

At the top of Tottenham’s shortlist for attack is Antoine Semenyo, who has emerged as one of the premier wide forwards in the Premier League this season.

Spurs believe the Ghanaian international will be an ideal fit in their system due to his pace and ability.

But landing Semenyo is far from easy. His £65m release clause, coupled with strong competition from Manchester City, makes a move in January even more difficult.

City are thought to be more advanced in talks, and Spurs will realistically face a tough battle.

Tottenham could target Man City winger

As a result, Tottenham are also exploring alternative attacking options. Sabinho, a winger who is currently highly rated at Man City, is one of them.

Spurs admire the Brazilian’s creativity and directness and see him as a player who can add unpredictability and flair to their forward line.

Sabinho’s signing is likely to depend on City approving a loan or permanent deal, but that remains uncertain.

In addition to wide attackers, Spurs have also been linked with Sam Agehowa. The Porto forward impressed with his physical presence and scoring record.

Tottenham see him as a potential long-term option to strengthen their attacking department. No formal approach has been made yet, but his name is firmly on the club’s radar as they look to add another profile up front.

Tottenham’s plans go beyond just attacking reinforcements. In particular, defensive reinforcements on the left side are also being discussed internally.

Spurs could sign a natural left-back to provide balance and competition, or target a left-sided centre-back.

Such a move would allow Frank to use Micky van de Ven in a wider role if needed, giving Frank even more tactical flexibility.

With £150m potentially available, Tottenham are clearly looking to spend big to compete with their Premier League rivals.
