An Italian journalist has claimed that Manchester United will sign a Serie A star in 2026, giving Ruben Amorim more midfield options.
Amorim admits Manchester United can play ‘differently’
Much has been said about Ruben Amorim’s system during his time at Man United, but there have been far more negative opinions than positive. However, the former sports club manager often decided to remain set in his ways rather than change things, which only increased the pressure.
However, with injuries to Brian Mbeumo and Bruno Fernandes at AFCON resulting in a lack of talent in midfield, it may finally be time for a change. Manchester United’s manager admitted the Red Devils could play in a “different way” ahead of their Boxing Day game against Newcastle United.
That will be music to the ears of many around Old Trafford, particularly Koby Mainu. Carrington graduates have struggled throughout Amorim’s tenure, but things could change under the new system.
It will also be interesting to see if the new system changes the transfer plan in January. According to recent reports, the Red Devils are already set to miss out on Antoine Semenyo to Manchester City next month, but they still have their eyes on other targets.
Italian journalist Francesca Teodori has claimed that Manu Kone will “join Man United” in June. The AS Roma midfielder has been added to the midfield that INEOS were looking for.
Teodori said on ASRomaLive’s Twitch channel: “It’s not news, but it’s a very credible rumor. We’ve heard from multiple sources that he will leave Roma and join Manchester United in June.”
Manu Cohn could replace Ugarte and Maynu
The latest rumors will only make Manuel Ugarte and Mainu wary. Given how well the 24-year-old has performed in Italy, Kone is likely to replace the struggling midfield pair if he completes a move to Old Trafford.
League Statistics P90 25/26 | connections | Mainu | Ugarte |
|---|---|---|---|
minutes | 1,440 | 221 | 390 |
progressive path | 7.31 | 3.2 | 5.12 |
tackle win | 1.06 | 1.2 | 3.02 |
ball collection | 4.5 | 4.4 | 5.35 |
It’s even possible that the news for Mainu is worse than for Ugarte. Kone would be a huge upgrade to both of Man United’s midfielders if he could keep possession, but as the statistics highlight, there is still room for Ugarte to flourish off the ball.
Furthermore, the Frenchman’s wage demands would not disrupt INEOS’ wage structure, given that the Frenchman currently earns around £88,000 a week at Roma.
Manchester United preparing to offer star player £294,000-a-week in January if he wants to move to the Premier League
He’ll be able to upgrade quickly.
All signs point to him being a great addition, even if the Red Devils have to wait until the summer transfer window to solve their current midfield problems.
