Newcastle United are reportedly interested in signing Inter Milan midfielder Davide Frattesi in the January transfer window.
The 26-year-old Italian international has no future at an Italian club and will need to move in order to play more often. Newcastle have been interested in signing the player in the past, but this time they seem to have a clear chance of signing him.
Davide Frattesi is a bargain
According to a report from Football Insider, the player will be available for a transfer fee of around £26.1 million. Newcastle have the financial wherewithal to get a deal done and should aim to complete the move as soon as possible. We need more quality and depth in the middle of the park. They have relied too much on Sandro Tonali and Bruno Guimarães. Both players have been exceptional for Newcastle but need more support.
Fratteshi needs movement
Frattesi could be a great acquisition. He has proven his quality in Italy and has the technical qualities to play in English football as well. He has started just one league game for Inter Milan this season but needs to move on. He is too good to sit on the bench at an Italian club. He is likely to get more chances at Manchester United and regular football could bring out the best in him.
With the World Cup coming up next year, Frattesi will want to be part of the Italian national team. Playing regularly for Newcastle in the second half of the season will help him cement his place in the national team. The opportunity to play in the Premier League is very exciting. The 26-year-old will be looking to prove his doubters wrong about his performance in England.
