Manchester United are increasingly interested in a potential move for Everton central midfielder James Garner.
The 24-year-old is not necessarily a top target in the same category as the likes of Nottingham Forest’s Elliott Anderson, but interest from Old Trafford appears to be growing.
According to the Daily Mail, Man United are keeping an eye on former player Garner, who is nearing the end of his contract with Everton.
This could give the Red Devils an opportunity to sign Garner on the cheap, with Garner said to be beefing up his January target list.

However, the Mail reports that Everton would ideally like to keep Garner, adding that they will try to negotiate a new contract with the former England Under-21 international.
The Toffees will no doubt be pleased with the impact Garner has had, having gone on to make over 100 appearances for the club since joining in 2022.
Recently, Garner’s improved performances have shown how capable he is and has attracted interest from a number of other big clubs.
According to Football Insider, Aston Villa have been linked as potential suitors for Garner, while a separate report from Football Insider suggests that Newcastle United could also be considered.
Losing Garner at a time when he is probably at his peak will be a big blow for Everton, but we imagine he will be tempted to return to MUFC.
Garner is a product of United’s academy who didn’t get many chances in the first team and was eventually moved on, but he looks good enough to make an impact in a position that had been a problem for Ruben Amorim.
