Tottenham are preparing for a crucial January campaign, with club bosses reportedly prepared to spend big to back underfire manager Thomas Frank.

The Sun reports that Spurs could invest up to £150m next month in a bid to address glaring weaknesses in both attack and defence, following a disappointing first half of the season.

The north London club currently sit in 14th place in all competitions, having lost five of their last eight Premier League games.

Frank found himself under increasing pressure as the club failed to build on the promising foundations he had built in his first months in charge, with supporters dissatisfied with inconsistent performances and a lack of identity.

Spurs are desperate to add speed, creativity and goal threat from the flanks to complement their existing options, with wide attackers emerging as a key focus for recruitment bosses heading into January.

Spurs are in desperate need of a new left winger.

Ghanaian Antoine Semenyo has become Tottenham’s top target for next season following his impressive performances for Bournemouth this season, combining his explosive pace and impressive performances in the final third.

However, signing the 25-year-old was not an easy task given the strong competition from Man City. Man City are thought to be in pole position to sign Semenyo and trigger his £65m release clause.

According to TEAMtalk, Spurs are now forced to “rethink” their entire January transfer strategy after Semenyo clearly prefers a move to City over a move to north London.

Tottenham set out ‘new quest’ for Man City winger Sabinho

Outlet and journalist Dean Jones today brings the latest transfer updates on the Lilywhites’ plans, detailing Semenyo’s replacement as Frank chases a quality left winger.

The club recently gave basic information on Juventus star Kenan Yildiz, but early indications suggest there is not much chance of signing the highly-rated Turkish winger as he aims to sign a new deal with Turin.

Magnes Akrios and Yann Diomande have also been named as ambitious transfer targets, although it would be more realistic for these moves to be planned for the summer of 2026 rather than next month.

According to Jones, Tottenham are currently conducting a “fresh look” into whether Sabinho, who was pursued during the summer, remains genuinely interested in leaving Eastlands despite his recent contract extension.

The 21-year-old impressed during his time in France at Troyes and then Girona, attracting interest from several Premier League clubs and ultimately opting to join Josep Guardiola’s side.

Sabinho signed a new contract with City last summer despite indications he was “eager” to move to Spurs, but has struggled considerably to secure a regular starting role in Guardiola’s loaded attacking team.

The Brazilian’s limited playing opportunities have raised questions about whether the decision to extend was the right one, especially with the 2026 World Cup looming next year.

The situation could potentially revive Tottenham’s interest if the player becomes dissatisfied with his peripheral role.

But before Spurs formally test out an offer for the “incredible” City forward, they want to understand exactly how keen he is on a move to north London.

Mediators are now expected to reveal the player’s prospects as Tottenham look to sign an outstanding attacking talent to strengthen their squad.
