Crystal Palace face an uncertain future as contract negotiations with Oliver Glasner reached a critical juncture this week.

Fabrizio Romano has revealed in his latest YouTube video that the manager has made a final decision on his future at the club after months of extensive discussions and negotiations.

A well-respected transfer journalist confirmed that negotiations between the two sides have been ongoing for some time, but no breakthrough has been reached that would guarantee the manager’s appointment beyond 2026.

Romano explained that the managers are carefully considering aspects such as the direction of the Palace project, its long-term vision and its ambitions for sustained growth at the highest level.

The reporter also claims that after careful consideration, Glassner has chosen not to sign a new contract.

“Oliver Glasner, one of the most highly regarded managers in Europe who has done a great job winning two trophies with Crystal Palace last year, will definitely be a manager to watch in 2026 because, according to my information, Oliver Glasner has decided not to sign a new contract with Crystal Palace.”

“And this decision has been taken after a long period of discussion, negotiation and thought. It’s not just about money. It’s about projects and ideas. Oliver Glassner has no intention of signing a new contract with Crystal Palace.”

Since arriving at Selhast Park, Glasner has turned the club into a genuine European contender, delivering the club’s first major trophy in its 120-year history with a memorable FA Cup final victory over Man City in May.

His incredible feat in leading the Eagles to silver medal represented the pinnacle of success for a club that had never previously won a major trophy.

The Austrian picked up another piece of silverware following Palace’s historic victory over Liverpool on penalties in the Community Shield in August.

The Wales international is a key target heading into the winter.

His performances over the past 18 months have attracted admiration from a number of clubs across Europe, who regard him as one of the continent’s most talented young managers.

This is according to TEAMtalk and journalist Graham Bailey, who report that Palace are currently in the process of identifying Glasner’s replacement.

Crystal Palace Strasbourg manager Liam Rosenior’s eyes

One name that stands out on Palace’s list of possible successors is Strasbourg manager Liam Rosenior, who impressed during his time as manager of the French club.

But the 40-year-old is also on Chelsea’s radar as BlueCo consider their own succession plan in case Enzo Maresca leaves Stamford Bridge at some point in the near future.

Palace are thought to be true fans of Rosenior, who has enjoyed an exceptional spell in Ligue 1. Last season, Rosenior led his team to Europe, and this season he has them battling PSG near the top of the table.

The former Hull City manager has also been lavished with praise for his player development, with European football expert Andy Brassell calling him “exceptional” in this regard.

“What we have seen since Rosenior came to Strasbourg is that he is more than just an intelligent and attractive man in front of the camera.

“He is an extraordinary coach and player developer and you saw that with former Chelsea player Diego Moreira, who really transformed under Rosenior.

“Everything Rosenior has accomplished since he’s been there is very impressive.”

Unfortunately, unless Rosenior forces a move away from Strasbourg, Bruco holds almost all the cards here and will be Chelsea’s overwhelming favorite to replace Maresca if he decides to replace him.
