The newspaper reports that Barcelona is looking to acquire Nathan Ake from Manchester City during the January transfer window. Following Andreas Christensen’s injury, the defending La Liga champions are contemplating a loan for Ake, according to Catch Offside.

Manchester City is willing to part with Ake during the 2025-26 season; however, they would prefer a permanent transfer. They are seeking approximately 30-35 million euros, although a loan agreement with an option for a permanent deal next summer seems more feasible for Barcelona.

Barcelona isn’t the only club interested in Ake for January 2026. Catch Offside indicates that Bournemouth, Crystal Palace, Fulham, and West Ham United are also keen on the 30-year-old Dutch defender. This season, Ake has made one start in the Premier League and one in the UEFA Champions League for Pep Guardiola’s team.

Fan Take: This news is significant for soccer enthusiasts as it illustrates Barcelona’s ongoing efforts to reinforce its squad amid challenges, while also highlighting the competitive landscape in the transfer market. Ake’s potential move could shuffle team dynamics in both the Premier League and La Liga, impacting fans’ experiences across both leagues.
