  • Reds keen to sign new forward
  • Semenyo could join Slott’s squad as a ‘world class’ player
        • Slot’s own Rice: Liverpool submit ‘monster’ offer of £61m

Liverpool are currently expected to step up their bid to sign the ‘world-class’ star, with manager Arne Slott a big fan.

Reds keen to sign new forward

On Saturday afternoon, the Reds went on a spin to win their fourth competitive match, but they worked hard to secure a 2-1 victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers, who remain bottom of the Premier League with just two points all season.

In the end, the three points are the most important thing, but Slott may have some concerns about the performance. Federico Chiesa struggled, earning a SofaScore match rating of just 6.1 and was replaced by Conor Bradley just after the hour mark.

It was an unusual start for Chiesa, who has featured mostly as a substitute so far this season, with the Italian playing on the right wing, with Florian Wirths impressing on the opposite flank.

Wirtz scored his first goal since joining from Bayer Leverkusen in the summer and Slott will be hoping the German can flourish after a slow start at Anfield.

The 22-year-old has played solidly on the left flank but usually plays in an attacking midfield role, meaning there may be space to bring in another left-winger next month, adding twists and turns to Liverpool’s pursuit of AFC Bournemouth’s Antoine Semenyo.

This is as reported by the Daily Mail, with Bournemouth now hoping Liverpool will make a move for the winger, who has a release clause of £65 million, which will become effective once the transfer window opens.

Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester United and Manchester City were also interested in the forward, with preliminary talks taking place and a move to the Etihad Stadium looking the most likely scenario.

But with speculation rife over Mohamed Salah’s future at Anfield, the Reds are keen to strengthen their attack power and there could be some late-game drama.

Semenyo could join Slott’s squad as a ‘world class’ player

Bournemouth teammate Justin Kluivert waxed lyrical about the Ghanaian earlier this season: “He’s just world class. We’re happy to have him and that’s why I said we’re a good team. He’s a player who scores goals for us and we appreciate that. He’s doing a great job.”

Kluivert is not alone in his praise, with Slott revealing he is a big fan of the 25-year-old, hailing him as a “great player” earlier this season, while praising the Bournemouth star’s speed and mental strength.

Slot’s own Rice: Liverpool submit ‘monster’ offer of £61m

Liverpool have reportedly made a £61m offer for the star, who could become Liverpool’s version of Declan Rice.

The Ghanaian international, who played in 32 games, scored nine goals and provided three assists in 17 Premier League games this season, securing a move to a top club.

With Salah’s future up in the air, Liverpool could definitely sign another forward and beating City to the signing of Semenyo would be a real statement.
