Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United are monitoring Napoli’s Scott McTominay.
The Scotland international has performed very well for the Italian team since joining from Manchester United. Last season, he scored 13 goals in official matches and helped the team win the league title.
He is one of the best midfield players in all of Europe and was deservedly nominated for the Ballon d’Or award. There is no doubt that he is a good player and the likes of Tottenham and Newcastle are looking to bring him back to the Premier League.
McTominay has also been linked with moves to Arsenal and Manchester United.
Tottenham could use Scott McTominay
Tottenham need more creativity and drives in the middle of the park and the former Manchester United man would be ideal for them. The 29-year-old knows the league well and could be able to make an immediate impact. He will feel he has unfinished business in the Premier League and the opportunity to join the north London club could be attractive to him.
According to a report in Calciomercato, the midfielder is admired at Napoli, but his daily life in Italy is stifled by the praise. It will be interesting to see if he is willing to return to England in the near future.
Newcastle keen to sign McTominay
Similarly, Newcastle need more quality in the middle of the park. They have relied too much on Bruno Guimarães and Sandro Tonali.
Napoli will not want to lose the 29-year-old so easily and it will be interesting to see if they are willing to pay a premium and allow him to leave. He was one of the first names on the team sheet for them and his departure will be a big blow.
On the other hand, he would be a great signing if Tottenham or Newcastle could strike a deal.
