Ex-Blackhawks Forward Faces Extended Absence from the Ice for Several Weeks

Former Chicago Blackhawks forward Pius Suter is expected to be out of action for the next four weeks due to a right ankle injury, as confirmed by the St. Louis Blues. Suter sustained the injury during the December 27 game against the Nashville Predators, where he logged nearly 11 minutes on the ice, made 15 shifts, and took one shot. This absence means the Blues will be without a key player for an extended period.

Suter holds significant value on the Blues’ roster, and his injury comes at a critical time as the team is fighting for a playoff spot. Currently, St. Louis is just one point behind the San Jose Sharks for the final wild-card position in the Western Conference.

The Blues acquired Suter as a free agent this summer, and this season marks his first with the team. He has appeared in 37 games, tallying seven goals, seven assists, and a total of 14 points, with a minus-3 plus-minus rating.

Suter began his NHL career with the Blackhawks in the 2020-21 season, playing 55 games and notching 14 goals, 13 assists, and 27 points.

Fan Take: This injury is a major setback for the Blues, who will need to adjust quickly to maintain their playoff push. Hockey fans should watch closely, as Suter’s absence could shift the competitive balance in the Western Conference and make the final wild-card race even more intense.
