Man Utd struggled in the summer to get fringe players off the books, and although they were mostly successful in the end, there is still work to be done. Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho both left on loan with no obligation to buy, with neither expected to have a future at Old Trafford, although a final decision has already been taken on the latter.
Sancho has had a disastrous period at Man United since joining from Borussia Dortmund in 2021. Much was expected of him, but he did not live up to his expectations in Manchester, where he previously played for Man City.
The five-year contract Sancho signed when he joined Man United expires at the end of this season and will not be renewed as expected.
Jadon Sancho leaves Man United as free agent
Fabrizio Romano will leave the club as a free agent on July 1, after Man United have confirmed they have no intention of extending his contract for another year.
“Jadon Sancho’s contract expires in the summer transfer window. Man United have the option of extending it, but from what I’ve heard they’ve already made clear agreements with people close to Sancho.
“Man United believes that Sancho’s chapter at Man United has come to an end and there is no chance for him to find another way. Sancho will not play for Man United again and this is the club’s clear position. We will keep an eye on what happens next. I think it is now time for Jadon Sancho to take his time at Aston Villa, enjoy his time at Aston Villa and try to make an impact.”
What should Jadon Sancho do next?
Sancho’s career has fallen off a cliff in recent years, but let’s not forget that he is still only 25 years old. He has time to put things right and it may be in his interest to leave England to give him the best chance of doing so.
