Aston Villa have had an excellent season so far and will be hoping to use the transfer window to continue their momentum. Left-back is an area that could be worked on and led to the identification of a target.
Lucas Digne has been the first choice for this position this season, but given his age of 32, he will likely need to be replaced soon. His substitute Ian Maassen has struggled to maintain consistency, which is why a new face is arriving – and that player could come from Aston Villa’s local rivals.
Aston Villa and Brighton keen to sign David Moller-Wolf
Mick Brown has confirmed Aston Villa are interested in Wolves defender David Moller-Wolf, according to Football Insider. He is also wanted by a number of other clubs, including Brighton.
“Wolves are expecting bids for their key players. To be honest, it looks like they’re going to be relegated and it’s going to take a miracle for them to stay. So there’s a view that they could sell in January to get the most money. Obviously no one wants to lose their best players, but if an offer comes they might have to accept.”
“When you have a player like Wolff, who is performing above the level the team has been at, a lot of clubs will take notice. His position is not well-stocked, so if their situation makes him available, those clubs will give it their all.”
“You mentioned Aston Villa and Brighton, but there are a lot of clubs who are looking at him. Probably every team in the league knows about him. Wolves are likely to decline, so those clubs will be looking to see if they have enough outstanding performers to improve their squad.”
Should Aston Villa sign David Moeller-Wolf?
Moller Wolf has been a bright spot for Wolves this season and it would be no surprise if he remains in the Premier League if the Molineux club are relegated. Aston Villa would ultimately be a good move for him, but there is no guarantee that a deal will be finalized.
