Anthony Santander was opened up about his recent battle with injuries after the Venezuelan MLB star returned to the Toronto Blue Jays’ starting lineup.

Anthony Santander opens up about repeated battles with injuries

The Toronto Blue Jays star has endured difficult times with injuries in recent months, missing multiple games in a row, making life in Canada quite difficult.

Initially, the Venezuelan missed a series of games with a persistent shoulder injury after leaping into the stands against the Los Angeles Angels in early May.

After recovering from a shoulder injury, the 30-year-old was hit by another blow by hip tension against the Tampa Bay Rays, affecting the momentum Santander is building.

He joined the Blue Jays in January 2025 after signing a five-year report of $92.5 million overall in January 2025, and the Venezuelan revealed how his early days in Toronto were a fight.

Santander said: “I’m fighting. Really, I’m staying positive. Mentally, I feel really good and I’m grateful to God. The team has given me a really warm welcome.

“My teammates were with me from the start, and the staff too.

Not 100%, but after recovering from his injury, Santander appeared in the starting lineup against the Detroit Tigers, and after 4/0 with three strikeouts, it was clear that his recovery was not fully complete.

The Toronto Blue Jays hope to make the most of Santander in the coming weeks. This sits in 10th place in the American League after winning 22 of the 46 games so far.

Santander’s return to the starting lineup was not a major addition to the MLB roster, as star pitcher Mick Abel made his Philadelphia Phillies debut and rivaled Debutante’s most strikeout franchise record (9).
