Honda’s 2025 MotoGP Move Celebrated as a “High-Level” Leap

Luca Marini believes Honda has reached an advanced level in analyzing race data both before and after MotoGP events in 2025, which is expected to help HRC make a strong comeback. Honda had a notable 2025 season, breaking their podium drought with the upgraded RC213V bike, which showed significant progress, especially in engine performance.

Johann Zarco secured a victory at the French Grand Prix under wet conditions, and the team also secured three other podium finishes in dry races, marking Honda’s first podiums since 2023. Consistent performance improvements even moved Honda out of the lowest concession category, signaling real progress.

While significant technical upgrades were made to the bike, Marini particularly highlighted Honda’s enhanced capability in analyzing race data. Speaking at the Valencia weekend, he noted that more engineers and personnel contributed to improved pre- and post-race data analysis, boosting the team’s overall package. Marini expressed gratitude toward the team and emphasized that while progress has been made, there is still room for further improvement in the future.

In light of Honda’s strong 2025 season, there were rumors about potentially signing big names like Jorge Martin and Pedro Acosta for 2026, though Marini’s contract was ultimately extended. Marini’s methodical and analytical approach has been a valuable asset since joining the factory team in 2024, especially given Honda’s limited options following Marc Marquez’s absence. Marini stated he is pleased with the progress, acknowledging the challenge but optimistic about achieving consistent top-three finishes as the team continues to develop throughout the next season.

Fan Take: Honda’s ability to leverage data analytics alongside technical improvements marks an exciting comeback for a legendary team in MotoGP. Racing fans should watch closely, as this renewed competitiveness could shake up the championship battles and bring fresh excitement to the sport.
