Tottenham are reportedly planning “extraordinary” plans to bring former manager Mauricio Pochettino back to the club to replace Thomas Frank.

Pochettino, who currently manages the United States men’s national team, is arguably Tottenham’s most successful manager in recent years.

The Argentine made Spurs serious title contenders and a regular in the top four during his five-year spell between 2014 and 2019.

Since then, Pochettino has also won trophies with Paris Saint-Germain and did an excellent job during his time at Chelsea, back in the Premier League.

Tottenham, on the other hand, have endured some difficult moments since taking over from Pochettino, with big names such as Jose Mourinho and Antonio Conte challenging for the job but ultimately struggling.

Last season, manager Ange Postecoglou won the Europa League, ending the club’s long silver medal run, but the team also finished 17th in the Premier League and the Australian tactician was sacked.

Thomas Frank took over as manager this summer, but the side have not made the most convincing start, with the team sitting in the middle of the table and drawing criticism from fans for playing fairly bland football.

Bringing Pochettino back could very well be the best solution for Spurs at the moment.

It will be interesting to see if Pochettino is open to returning to Tottenham, as we imagine he is happy with his current job with the American football team.

While international football is in some ways more prestigious and also involves less day-to-day work, one would imagine that a second stint at Spurs could also be appealing.

The Premier League is the biggest league in the world and Pochettino must still have a strong attachment to his former club.
