Liam Rosenior’s move to Chelsea is reportedly on track and is expected to go through unless something “special” happens.

This follows a rather complicated update from Sky Germany’s trusted journalist Florian Plettenberg, who reveals that the deal is not yet signed and could still fall apart.

Rosenior is currently in charge of Ligue 1 side Strasbourg and will likely impress at Chelsea due to the French club’s links with the BlueCo group.

This probably makes Rosenior the leading candidate to replace Enzo Maresca, but Plettenberg seems to suggest he’s not entirely sure about that yet…

Plettenberg posted on X: “I understand the negotiations with Liam.” #LawSenior And Chelsea are doing well and winning. Unless something special happens, the 41-year-old will become Chelsea’s new head coach.

“But it’s not over yet. The proposed agreement could still fail. #CFC The contract with RC Strasburg is valid until 2028. ”

Is Liam Rosenior’s move to Chelsea really on the verge of collapse?

It is perhaps an important choice that Plettenberg does not fully accept claims that Rosenior is headed for the Chelsea job.

Blues fans would have expected this to be a bit of a formality due to the club’s relationship with Strasbourg, but there always seems to be a chance that the English tactician will remain in his current position.

It is also worth noting that other players have also been linked to the CFC vacancy, including Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola, according to the Daily Mail.

Even if negotiations with Rosenior go well, Chelsea will likely discuss other candidates before making a final decision.

Chelsea Under-21 manager Callum MacFarlane will be in the dugout for tomorrow’s big Premier League game against Manchester City.

It would certainly be ideal if Chelsea could appoint a permanent manager soon, as McFarlane’s lack of experience means he is not ideal for such a big job.
