Manchester United, along with AC Milan and several clubs in the Saudi professional league, are monitoring the situation of Vasco da Gama wonderboy Rayan.

The talented 19-year-old has impressed in his native Brazil, scoring 23 goals in 98 games at senior level so far in his career.

And according to journalist Eduardo Burgos, Man United are currently one of the teams keeping an eye on his situation ahead of a possible transfer, which won’t come cheap as his club has an €80 million release clause written into his contract…

Burgos’ post read: “AC Milan, Manchester United and several clubs in Saudi Arabia are monitoring Rayan’s situation. Vasco da Gama has mentioned a buyout clause worth 80 million euros. A transfer at the moment seems more than complicated. We expect things to develop by the summer.”

Even if this deal looks potentially complex and expensive, it’s the kind of new deal that United’s board and recruitment team should strive for.

The Red Devils have lagged behind their rivals in terms of finding bargains on the market lately, and Ryan looks like a young player with a big future.

Even if the teenager is certainly not worth €80 million at the moment, he could still end up being a player worth paying a hefty fee if United can find a way to bring that price down a bit.

United still need more in attack

Rayan can play wide or up front and could make an immediate impact on Ruben Amorim’s unstable side.

MUFC signed all three players during the summer: Benjamin Sesco, Brian Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha, while Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho, Anthony and Alejandro Garnacho all moved on.

This certainly means there is room for another attacker to add more depth, with Cunha and Sesco in particular looking a little underwhelmed at the moment.
