Leaders United are interested in signing Union Berlin defender Danilo Doek.

The 27-year-old Dutch international has had a very good run with the German club and is currently attracting the attention of Premier League clubs. Leeds want to tighten up at the back and need more quality in that area of the pitch. Signing the 27-year-old defender could be a smart move.

Doehy has been linked with Crystal Palace. He was also a target for Newcastle United a few years ago.

Danilho Doekhi is a bargain

According to TEAMtalk, the defender will become a free agent at the end of the season and could be signed this month for as little as €13 million. Leeds can certainly afford the fee and should do everything they can to get a deal done.

Apart from his qualities as a defender, he is extremely dangerous from set-pieces, heading the ball into the back of the net four times this season. Since joining the German club in 2022, no defender has scored more headed goals in the top five leagues. Dokki could be a real goal threat in set-piece situations and add a new dimension to the lead attack.

The opportunity to move to the Premier League is exciting for the defender and he is likely to be keen to make a move. It will be interesting to see if Reid can secure an agreement with the German club.

They are fighting for survival in the Premier League and need to strengthen their squad during the January transfer window. If they can sign the right players, they could perform well in the second half of the season and secure a place in next season’s Premier League.

It will be interesting to see if Leeds United make a formal offer to conclude a deal, depending on their interest.
