  • Spurs aim to strengthen defense with Frank under pressure
        • Tottenham are in ‘advanced negotiations’ to sign West Ham’s ‘maverick’ star
  • ‘Superior’ Solet could be a solid Dragsin replacement

Tottenham Hotspur are currently preparing for a winter move for the ‘flawless’ defender as questions remain over Radu Dragusin’s future in north London.

Spurs aim to strengthen defense with Frank under pressure

Tottenham have struggled to find consistency in the Premier League, most recently drawing 0-0 with Brentford, but there has been speculation in north London about Thomas Frank’s departure, with Oliver Glasner, Marco Silva and Andoni Iraola shortlisted last month.

The Dane even admitted he wasn’t having fun in the Spurs dugout, saying: “When you have to make big, big changes and it’s not smooth and difficult, it’s probably hard to enjoy it.

“When you run hard, you don’t enjoy the moment. But you know you have to keep your head down and run hard to get through it. We’re in a situation where we have to run hard to stay in that situation.”

Frank’s defense has not been the main problem, with the Lilywhites keeping a clean sheet in their last two games, but their lack of quality in attack has been a major problem, with an xG of just 0.86 in their last goalless draw with Brentford.

But Dragusin’s future at Tottenham is now in doubt, with Frank potentially needing to bring in another centre-back this month as Crystal Palace approach signing the Romanian, with preparations currently underway for Udinese’s Oumar Sollet.

Speculation over Dragusin’s future means Spurs are keen to strengthen their backs, with Solet, who is represented by the same agent as Brennan Johnson, emerging as a January transfer target.

However, there is plenty of competition for the Frenchman, with Chelsea, Crystal Palace, West Ham United and Manchester United also mentioned as potential candidates.

‘Superior’ Solet could be a solid Dragsin replacement

Dragusin, who earns £85,000 a week, has just returned from a long injury spell and made his first appearance since January 2025 in the 1-0 win over Crystal Palace, but the Udinese defender could be a solid replacement if Tottenham allow the 23-year-old to leave this month.

Hailed as “impeccable” by Italian journalist Leonardo Bertozzi, the 25-year-old is good at winning the ball back, but has also shown an impressive ability to push the ball up the pitch over the past year.

The 6ft 4in colossus also demonstrated his attacking prowess when he scored his first Serie A goal in March.

Solet is clearly a very well-rounded defender who can make an impact at both ends of the pitch, so Tottenham should aim to get a deal done if Dragusin leaves this month.
