CORAL GABLES — The 62nd Annual Junior Orange Bowl opened on Saturday, Jan. 3, with 48 male golfers and 36 female golfers competing in the international event at Biltmore Golf Course.

As well as several famous competitors in attendance, even more famous parents, including professional golf legends Tiger Woods and Elin Nordegren, were in the gallery cheering on their son Charlie Woods.

Charlie shot a 73 (2 over) on his first day on the course. He entered the clubhouse tied for 24th place. Cameron shot a 77 (6 over) and will enter the second day of the championship in a tie for 39th place.

After his son’s performance on the 11th hole, where Tiger could be heard praising Charlie, saying it was a “hell of a shot,” Matt Kuchar was with his son that day, stopping to discuss strategy with him on the course between the sixth and seventh holes.
