  • West Ham’s chances of survival are in jeopardy after defeat at Molineux
  • ‘Incalculable’ Bilic may not be the answer for West Ham
        • He’s keen on a move: West Ham are currently targeting ‘incredible’ England ace for £18m

A ‘huge’ manager has expressed his desire to take over as West Ham United manager, with Nuno under pressure following the recent heavy defeat to Wolverhampton Wanderers.

West Ham’s chances of survival are in jeopardy after defeat at Molineux

On paper, the trip to Wolves, who are bottom of the table without a win in the Premier League all season, was a great opportunity for West Ham to pick up a much-needed three points, but they fell short and suffered a 3-0 defeat at Molineux.

The Hammers were once again unable to close the four-point gap on Nottingham Forest, with their hopes of avoiding relegation dealt another blow, with Nuno apologizing to fans following the loss and extending the team’s winless streak to nine games.

The manager said: “I have to apologize to my fans. I was embarrassed.

“There’s not much I can say other than I’m sorry. I’m sorry because what we showed wasn’t good enough.

“We need results and we need points. It was a tough situation and no one expected this performance. Today was the worst performance we have had.”

It subsequently emerged that the 51-year-old was under increasing pressure at the London Stadium. The players are confused about how to practice and choose their starting lineup, and they are losing support in the locker room.

So West Ham may need to start thinking about a potential replacement before too long. It has been revealed that former manager Slaven Bilic intends to replace Nuno in the dugout if David Sullivan and others sack him for the second time this season.

This is according to a report in Sunday’s Sun newspaper (via Sky Sports) that Bilic, who has been out of work since leaving Saudi Professional League side Al Fateh in August 2024, will be available immediately.

‘Incalculable’ Bilic may not be the answer for West Ham

Former Aston Villa player Lee Hendry has waxed lyrical about the Croatian in the past, describing him as “absolutely great”, but West Ham are sure to have some hesitation in moving their former manager.

There’s another update on the Hammers’ signing of the defender.

The 57-year-old has not managed in the Premier League since taking over at West Bromwich Albion and was sacked after scoring just seven goals in the opening 13 games of the 2020-21 season.

Since then, the Split-born manager, who favors a 4-2-3-1 system, has also managed Watford, but failed to win promotion and was sacked in March 2023, by which time the Hornets were out of the Championship play-offs.

West Ham fans will have fond memories of the first half of the 2015-16 season when Bilic took charge, finishing seventh, but he has been without success for a long time and his appointment could be seen as a setback.
