  • Omar Marmouche targeted by Aston Villa
  • It seems very unlikely that Marmouche will move in January.

Aston Villa have emerged as the latest Premier League club to show interest in Omar Marmouche, as they closely follow his situation at Manchester City, according to TEAMtalk.

The development comes after Tottenham made initial inquiries about the forward, indicating growing interest in a player whose City career is yet to fully ignite.

Marmouche only joined City from Eintracht Frankfurt in January 2024 in a deal worth around €70 million, and joins on a high note following an impressive campaign in the Bundesliga.

The attacker is known for his versatility and goal-scoring ability, but surprisingly his time at Man City hasn’t been as fruitful as expected.

However, his opportunities to play at the Etihad Stadium have been limited so far.

Marmouche has started just two games in the Premier League and one in the Champions League this season, with most of his appearances coming from the bench.

Intense competition for attacking positions, combined with Guardiola’s rotation-heavy approach, has made it difficult for the 26-year-old to establish consistent momentum.

Under Unai Emery, Villa have become one of the Premier League’s most tactically sophisticated teams, with the club working hard to secure a squad to compete domestically and in Europe.

Marmouche’s ability to play both centrally and out wide makes him an attractive profile, especially as Villa continue to juggle multiple competitions.

However, City will not accept him leaving midway through the season. Despite Marmouche’s limited minutes, City view him as a long-term asset and believe he will still have a key role in the second half of the season.

Guardiola is understood to value the forward’s adaptability and intensity of pressing, especially with fixture congestion and injuries always a factor in the final stages of the season.

January’s developments are further complicated by the fact that Marmouche is currently representing Egypt at the African Cup of Nations.

City are reluctant to disrupt their squad midway through the season, especially while several players are away on international duty.

As for Marmouche, it is important that he plays regular football now that he is nearing his peak, but there is no sign that he is pushing for a move away.

Sources close to the player have suggested that he remains focused on proving himself at City and earning Guardiola’s trust over time.
