  • Chelsea could aim for Marc Guehi to move in January
  • Gehi will change the Blues’ defense.

According to X’s reliable sources, Chelsea are moving quickly to usher in a new era, with Liam Rosenior set to be confirmed as the club’s new head coach.

The appointment marks a decisive change in direction at Stamford Bridge, with the club selecting a progressive, modern manager who has impressed across Europe with his achievements in player development and tactical organization.

Rosenior arrived with a clear vision and his immediate focus was to stabilize Chelsea’s project after a tumultuous period.

Following the departure of manager Enzo Maresca, the Blues are looking for someone to lead the club out of their current crisis, and it has been reported that Rosenior has won the race to become the Blues’ new manager after his impressive spell in Strasbourg.

Chelsea could aim for Marc Guehi to move in January

One of his top priorities is understood to be strengthening the defensive unit, with Marc Gehi firmly in the spotlight as a January signing candidate.

The England international, who currently captains Crystal Palace, has been praised by Rosenior for his leadership, calmness on the ball and ability to play with a high defensive line.

Gehi has long been admired across the Premier League and Chelsea’s interest is nothing new. The defender is a product of the Stamford Bridge academy and his development since leaving the club has only strengthened his reputation as one of the most consistent centre-backs in English football.

Palace are aware of growing interest from elite clubs and January could be a pivotal time as Gehi approaches key stages of a contract.

However, no transaction is ever easy. Crystal Palace will be under no pressure to sell cheaply and will demand an attractive offer that would allow their captain to leave midway through the season.

Gehi will be more than just a defensive upgrade. He will be an important addition. He will be able to organize the backline, mentor young defenders and adapt smoothly to a possession-based system that prioritizes build-up from the back.

Chelsea’s leaders are understood to be prepared to strengthen their defense in January if the right opportunity arises, but they are equally prepared to wait until the summer if Palace’s valuation proves to be prohibitive.

The Blues are expected to face competition from Liverpool and Manchester City in the race for Palace’s centre-back.
