West Ham United are said to be making a move for Aston Villa midfielder John McGinn.

The Scotland international has been exceptional since joining Aston Villa and has become a key player for them. He has been a consistent performer in the Premier League and former Arsenal star Ray Parlor believes the Hammers need a player like him.

McGinn has recently been linked with Celtic.

West Ham have been told to sign John McGinn

West Ham are currently fighting to remain in the Premier League. They need to improve their squad during the January transfer window. It will be interesting to see if they make a move for the Aston Villa star. McGinn is an important player for the West Midlands side and it is unlikely that they would sanction his departure.

It is also less likely that players will force quit. They are playing at a high level with Aston Villa and are in third place in the league.

Arsenal legend Ray Parlor believes McGinn is exactly the player West Ham need right now.

He told talkSPORT: “Again, John McGinn, a great performance from John. You know what you’re going to get from John every week. I’m sure people will be talking about John McGinn because he always gives 100 per cent.”

“He’s got quality too, there’s no doubt about that, but his desire to play is great. West Ham need John McGinn at the moment. He’ll get people there.”

It’s no secret that West Ham need more quality play in the middle of the park. They need someone who can move the team forward and help the defense. It will be interesting to see if they can bring in a quality midfield enforcer this month.

If they want to remain in the Premier League, they will need proper reinforcements in January.
