Gainesway Stallion Charge It Welcomes Its First Two Foals to the World

The first two foals of Gainesway’s graded stakes winner Charge It were reportedly born on January 5th, with one foal born at the Brogden family’s McMahall in Paris, Kentucky, and the other at Derby Dun Farm in Lexington, Kentucky.

At McMahall, a bay colt was born, marking the first offspring of the stakes-winning mare Six Sense (by Violence). Six Sense, who is a half-sister to stakes winner Zantique and out of the G2 filly Qualia, owns the Charge It mare Inutero and was acquired for $105,000 at the 2025 Keeneland November Sale.

Carrie Brogden of McMahall shared that Charge It is healthy and thriving. She noted that this stallion is the first of three Charge It sires planned to stand at McMahall this year. “When I saw this magnificent stallion, I knew we had to be part of his journey. We’re excited to support him with numerous mares in 2025, 2026, and years to come,” Brogden said.

Meanwhile, at Derby Dun Farm, a filly was born to Ghost Zapper’s mare Overt, bred by Healthy Wood. This is Overt’s third foal; she is a daughter of Grade 3 winner Antipathy and belongs to the immediate family of Grade 1 winners Scat Daddy and Likeable Style.

Charge It, sired by Gainesway’s leading stallion Tapit, was a notable homebred from Mandy Pope’s Whisper Hill Farm and trained by Todd Pletcher. His 3-year-old campaign was highlighted by a dominant 23-length victory in the one-mile Dwyer Stakes (G3), earning a career-best Beyer Speed Figure of 111. Now 4 years old, Charge It claimed another impressive win in the 1 1/4-mile Suburban Stakes (G2), winning by 4 3/4 lengths and tying the all-time Beyer record of 106 for the distance in 2023.

Charge It hails from a distinguished bloodline, sharing breeding with Horse of the Year Flightline, whose dam Isle Take Charge, by Indian Charley, produced a $2.2 million foal. The second dam, Take Charge Lady, is a multiple G1 winner and broodmare of the year, dam to G1 winners Will Take Charge, Take Charge Indy, and As Time Goes By, and grandmother to champions Take Charge Brandy and Omaha Beach.

Charge It enjoyed strong breeder interest in his first season as a stallion, covering 235 mares—the fifth-highest number among North American stallions in 2025. His stud fee is set at $12,500.

Fan Take: This exciting news marks the start of a promising new chapter for Charge It as a sire, with his first foals now on the ground. For horse racing fans, it signals the arrival of fresh talent that could shape the future of the sport, continuing a legacy rooted in exceptional bloodlines and remarkable on-track performance.
