Arsenal are reportedly stepping up efforts to sign Blackburn Rovers teenage sensation Igor Tyjon, with the 17-year-old striker emerging as a key target for the Gunners this month.
After a summer period in which the north London club had their approaches rejected, new reports claim Arsenal are back on the table.
The youngster’s intentions to leave Ewood Park could mean a move to the Emirates is on the horizon before the window closes in January.
Arsenal working towards signing Igor Taijon
Arsenal are “actively working on a deal” to take Blackburn Rovers to London, according to journalist Ben Jacobs.
Jacobs revealed the development for X, pointing out that Taijohn had been on the club’s radar for some time, with interest starting in the summer transfer window.
Jacobs reports that the 17-year-old has officially rejected a professional contract from Blackburn Rovers.
This decision left the Championship side in a dangerous position. A fee has yet to be agreed, but the club may be forced to cash in now rather than lose him to a court-ordered compensation later.
Jacobs flagged the situation as “a situation to watch this month”, suggesting that although no deal has been reached, the conditions are ripe for Arsenal to sign one of England’s brightest academies.
Player Profile: Who is Igor Taijon?
Igor Taijon primarily functions as a central striker, but is a versatile forward who can play across the front line.
Born in 2008, he joined Blackburn from Rochdale in 2023 and quickly established himself as a prolific goalscorer in youth football, attracting attention for his agility, technical ability and finishing ability.
Despite his age, Tyjon is already accustomed to senior football and made his professional debut in the Championship with Rovers during the 2024-25 season.
With an impressive strike rate and an average of goals per game in Premier League 2 this season, Tyjon is in great form and has proven he is ready for the next step in his development, a trajectory Arsenal are keen to oversee.
