Nottingham Forest are now determined to sign their ‘huge’ signing soon and have no intention of giving up on trying to secure his signature.

Forest wants to further strengthen their momentum for survival by acquiring new players

Forest took a big step towards retaining their Premier League status by defeating West Ham United earlier this week, moving seven points clear of Nuno’s side in the process, but remain keen to add new players to the squad this month.

Asked about the current transfer negotiations, Sean Dyche said: “You can be as optimistic as you want until you put pen to paper and the job is done, but certainly there are ongoing conversations about the situation.

“The club has been very open with me and the staff. I don’t know how it was before, but we talked to them about our ideas.”

One position Tricky Trees are clearly looking to strengthen is goalkeeper, with it recently revealed they are in the race to sign Real Madrid’s Andriy Lunin, raising the possibility that the La Liga giants could allow him to leave.

Nottingham Forest are also in the race to sign another goalkeeper in La Liga, and are determined to sign Getafe star David Soria quickly, according to a report from AS (via Sport Witness).

Forest are aiming to sign Soria as soon as possible and have no intention of giving up even if a deal doesn’t happen until the end of the season, which would mean Soria would be available on a free transfer if they don’t sign a new contract at that point.

With Jon Victor and Mats Sells in and out of the starting XI this season, Tricky Trees have been keen on the Spaniard for some time and decided to strengthen between the sticks.

Best CF since Wood: Nottingham Forest negotiate contract with ‘clinical’ star

Nottingham Forest are currently in contract negotiations with a striker who could save them from relegation to the Premier League.

“Colossal” Soria can be upgraded with Sels and Victor

Nottingham Forest could be in for a new goalkeeper, with Sels set to turn 34 by the end of the season, and the Getafe star could be an upgrade on Paul and Victor.

Over the past year, the 6-foot-4 colossus averaged a save percentage of 74.2% in 90 games, while Sels averaged 69% and Victor just 60%, ranking the Brazilian in the bottom 1% of goaltenders by this metric.

Journalist Alvaro Canibe also praised the Madrid-born shot-stopper: “I salute David Soria. His level of excellence on the pitch is only surpassed by his courage, leadership and attitude off the pitch. This season has revealed his importance. A captain without an armband. Huge.”

As such, Soria could be a great signing for Forest, and Dyche clearly need a new goalkeeper, given that both Victor and Sels, who have been rotated in recent weeks, have clearly failed to impress him.
