Liverpool have reportedly received an offer for a significant transfer fee as one of their long-term targets, Micky van de Ven, is willing to join the club.
The Tottenham defender, who can play at center back or left-back, first came to the attention of Liverpool during his time at former club Wolfsburg.
Now, the latest reports suggest that Van de Ven is considering his future at Spurs and is keen on the chance to move to Anfield.
Van de Ven has shone during his time in the Premier League and it seems clear that he can perform at a higher level than this unconvincing Tottenham side.
Micky van de Ven could be the ideal long-term successor to Virgil van Dijk at Liverpool
Van de Ven’s height, speed and intelligence make him the ideal central defender of the modern era, but those qualities could also make him a good option at left-back in the future.
Still, Liverpool really need the Dutchman as a long-term successor to compatriot Virgil van Dijk, who looks past his best.
The 24-year-old has recently been linked with the likes of Real Madrid and could end up moving to another major European club if Liverpool don’t make a move soon.
Spurs will do everything in their power to avoid losing Van de Ven to Liverpool or a rival club in England’s top flight.
We have seen Tottenham sell the names of some of their star players in the past, often with good results, ensuring the likes of Harry Kane, Gareth Bale and Luka Modric were shipped overseas rather than to another Premier League team.
Van de Ven could have similar potential if he gets a big move, so LFC would do very well to nab him, even if it looks a bit unrealistic.
