  • Everton knocked out of FA Cup after dramatic Sunderland incident
  • Everton plotting to sign Arsenal star Ben White
        • Everton are in the hunt for ‘outstanding’ £58,000-a-week midfielder in Moyes

Everton have faced problems within the right-back area this season and could be in the market for an experienced solution who could arrive at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

Everton knocked out of FA Cup after dramatic Sunderland incident

Everton manager David Moyes has stabilized his team since taking over, but they lost on penalties to Sunderland in the FA Cup on Saturday afternoon, making it three games without a win.

Despite managing to get back into the match after James Garner’s second-half spot-kick forced extra-time, Robin Roofs was preparing to consign the Toffees to another campaign without silverware.

However, the Scot revealed that he feels Everton’s performance has improved compared to the draw against Wolverhampton Wanderers and the home loss to Brentford.

“We were able to get ourselves back into the game and we persevered when we needed to. It’s disappointing for the penalty shootout, but things like that can happen. I don’t think we were very good in the first half, but we got better in the second half. We still weren’t at the level we’ve been in the last few weeks, but we got better in the second half.”

With the transfer window open and plenty of opportunities to play in the Premier League, the Toffees will be looking to add to their squad and with Wolves mathematically closer to relegation, Moyes could make a move for Jorgen Strand Larsen.

But it is not just the forward areas that are likely to see improvement as the club look to the future under the Friedkin group, adding an element of stability to their league standing and overall performance levels.

Moyes could be handed a key position following news that Everton are considering adding an England international.

Everton plotting to sign Arsenal star Ben White

According to Football Insider, Everton are plotting a deal for Arsenal defender Ben White and are open to a January move for the Three Lions star, who is under contract with the capital until 2028 with an option for a further 12 months.

The paper claims it may be difficult for the Gunners to poach him mid-season. Despite this, the £50m contract has fallen down the pecking order under Mikel Arteta, with the Toffees waiting to pounce if the player’s loan move is approved.

He could be a long-term replacement for Idrissa Guyet.

Described as “phenomenal” by the Spaniard, White has featured in 12 games in all competitions this season, registering his only assist in the 2-0 win over Brentford.

Julian Timber’s domineering form means he is unlikely to become Arsenal’s main player any time soon, but the 28-year-old’s experience and know-how would make him the ideal solution to a position that has long been a problem for Everton, especially with Seamus Coleman’s frequent injury problems.
