Arteta to change Arsenal star’s position to accommodate transfer deemed too good to turn down

  • Marc Gehi’s latest transfer: Will he choose Arsenal over other options?
  • Arsenal definitely need to focus on attacking transfers

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is reportedly considering changing Miles Lewis-Skelly’s position from full-back to midfield in the future.

This comes amidst surprising interest from the Gunners in signing Crystal Palace central defender Marc Guehi.

Arsenal already have so many options in defense that it is difficult to see how Guehi will fit in, but Arteta appears to be planning for this opportunity and it seems too good to turn down.

Football Transfers reports that the Spanish tactician sees Piero Hincapie and Riccardo Calafioli as the two main options at left-back, with Lewis Skelly potentially moving into midfield.

That would mean two players in each defensive position – Julian Timber and Ben White at right-back, William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhães as first-choice centre-backs, and Gehi alongside Cristian Mosquera as back-up.

Guehi could be a great signing for Arsenal and fans will definitely want to see that kind of depth at the Emirates Stadium.

However, there are certainly other options available to the England international himself that would give him the chance of getting more minutes.

Football Transfers claim that Manchester City are in talks to sign the Palace captain, and it is easy to see him becoming a starter there straight away.

City will have to cover for the injured duo of Josko Gvardiol and Ruben Dias, but Arsenal are unlikely to start Guehi over Saliba or Gabriel any time soon.

Arsenal definitely need to focus on attacking transfers

Arsenal are understandably interested in Guehi, as he is a top-flight player who is nearing the end of his contract, but the north London giants certainly have more pressing matters to focus on.

Victor Goqueres has been in very poor form since joining from Sporting Lisbon in the summer, and their lack of goal threat could come back to haunt them in the close title race.

Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus have both returned from injury, but their overall fitness records are not very convincing, so this is certainly an area where Arsenal need to bring more depth and competition.
