Chelsea have canceled Facundo Buonanotte’s loan from Brighton and will undergo a medical before joining Leeds United instead, it has been reported.
Buonanotte joined on loan from Brighton and was a surprise signing from Chelsea in the summer, but Fabrizio Romano has now said he intends to return to the Seagulls and begin a new loan with Leeds for the second half of the season.
Fabrizio Romano breaks Facundo Buonanotte transfer talk
Romano provided this surprising breaking news on the official X page, so read below for more details…
“Faku Buonanotte will undergo a medical at Leeds United as soon as he is also cleared by Chelsea and Brighton. Exclusive, confirmed,” Romano posted.
Shortly before that, he also posted the following:Exclusive: Leeds United reach verbal agreement to sign Facundo Buonanotte! Chelsea suspend loan move from Brighton and leave the club #CFC return to #BHAFC Then he joined Leeds. move to #LUFC He will be on loan until the end of the season. Come on, let’s go right away. ”
Facundo Buonanotte failed to make an impact at Chelsea
Buonanotte has shown himself to be a promising player at Brighton, but it still might have seemed a bit strange to see Chelsea sign him this season.
The 21-year-old may still have a bright future, but he is clearly not at Chelsea’s level yet, and it appears the Blues themselves have come to that conclusion.
Leeds, on the other hand, will probably feel this is a great addition to their squad in order to stay in the Premier League later this season.
However, with Buonanotte only making one Premier League appearance, Chelsea may need something a little different to turn around their recent slump.
The Argentine has scored one goal in eight games in all competitions for the West Londoner.
