Hayden Hackney has been linked with a move away from Middlesboro in recent months, with Manchester United a potential destination.
Michael Carrick has been appointed Inter manager at Old Trafford and is reportedly keen to reunite with the midfielder. Hackney was an important player for him when he was running the Championship club. It will be interesting to see if Manchester United can get a deal done.
Manchester United could use Hayden Hackney
They need more creativity and control in the middle of the park and the 23-year-old could come in handy for them. He has the qualities to excel in the top flight and the opportunity to move to Manchester United would be a very exciting one for him.
Carrick’s presence as manager will certainly give Manchester United an advantage in the transfer race. According to TEAMtalk, they will face competition from clubs such as Tottenham Hotspur and Everton. It will be interesting to see if Manchester United can win the race for his signature.
Hackney can help Red Devils
The midfielder has contributed nine goals in the league this season and could help Manchester United create more chances from midfield.
It remains to be seen whether Manchester United will respond to their interest with a formal offer to sign the player. The Championship club do not want to lose the player so easily and have set their asking price at £30 million. It will be interesting to see if Manchester United are prepared to go broke for him.
Tottenham, on the other hand, need a creative central midfielder like him and have the resources to do so. It remains to be seen which of the two clubs will be able to conclude a contract.
