Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner has informed the club that he will not be signing a new contract and has confirmed that he will leave the club this summer.
According to our sources, Glasner is Manchester United’s top choice after his impressive spell at Selhurst Park, and the signing has been confirmed.
The Austrian tactician is one of a number of candidates considered by Manchester United, but he already has an impressive pedigree with success in the Premier League.
Glasner has transformed Palace into a more consistent top-half team, most notably helping the south London club win silver for the first time with a 1-0 victory over Manchester City in last season’s FA Cup final.
Oliver Glasner confirms departure from Crystal Palace
As quoted by BBC Sport, Glasner admitted today: “The decision was already made several months ago. I spoke to Steve (Parish) in October during the international break.”
“We had a very long talk and I told him I wouldn’t sign a new contract. At that point we agreed it was best to keep it a secret between the two of us. It’s best to do it and keep it a secret for three months.”
“But it’s important to be clear right now and we didn’t want to talk about it because we had very busy schedules. Steve and I want the best for Crystal Palace.”

Should Oliver Glasner become Manchester United’s next manager?
It’s no surprise that Glasner leaves Palace, as he looks capable of making the step up to a bigger club.
United recently sacked manager Ruben Amorim and are in need of a new manager, with former player Michael Carrick appointed as caretaker manager until the end of the season.
Glasner appears to have the qualities to help United improve after their recent struggles, but of course it’s always difficult to predict how a manager will cope with the pressures of such a high-profile job.
