  • Mikel Arteta answers questions about Arsenal’s new throw-in coach
  • Arsenal have become set-piece specialists under Mikel Arteta.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta spoke about the reported addition of Thomas Gronnemark as a new throw-in coach.

The Gunners are said to have already started working with Gronnemark, who also played for Liverpool.

According to BBC Sport, the Dane has taken on a part-time role at the Emirates Stadium, but Arteta did not confirm the story at Friday’s press conference.

The Spanish tactician spoke to the press ahead of this weekend’s Premier League away game against Nottingham Forest, and Gronnemark’s arrival was also a topic of conversation.

When asked about Gronnemark’s call-up, Arteta said: “No comment on that.”

Arteta was pressed to improve in that area, to which he replied: “We are trying to improve as much as possible in every area and by every margin to become a better team.

“We have a lot of experts and a lot of people around us to help us be as good as we can be.”

Arsenal fans will probably be surprised that Arteta narrowly dodged the question, but it’s probably fair enough if the 43-year-old doesn’t want to reveal too much about his tactics and training ground efforts.

Arsenal, under manager Arsene Wenger, have long been well known as a team that has always tried to play free, attacking football above all else.

But Arteta has done a lot of work to turn the north London giants into a force to be reckoned with at set-pieces.

Arsenal have scored 24 goals from set pieces so far this season, more than any other team in Europe.

If they can add throw-ins to their repertoire, it will certainly be very dangerous.
