Issa Allao has been linked with a move from Sheffield Wednesday for the past few months.
The 17-year-old is highly regarded across the country, with several top clubs keeping an eye on his development.
According to a report in The Star, the player is set to move to Chelsea in January. Sheffield Wednesday will receive a six-figure fee from the Premier League club, with the deal set to include significant add-ons.
Everton and Manchester City were also interested in signing the 17-year-old, but Chelsea won the race. The Blues have shown a willingness to invest in young talent in recent years, and are looking to further add to the club’s strong talent pool.
Wing-backs can play not only a defensive role, but also more advanced roles. He was recently handed his first start in the Championship and impressed against Portsmouth. There is no doubt that he has the qualities to develop at the highest level with the right guidance. He is unlikely to become Chelsea’s starter right away and is expected to join the youth team. Chelsea have been successful in developing young players and expect Alao to play a key role in his development.
The talented young full-back is delighted with the move and will now focus on his development with an eye on his long-term future.
He will likely want to force his way into Chelsea’s first-team plans in the future. For now, he needs to continue his development through regular football at youth level. If he can fulfill his potential at Chelsea, this deal could look like a huge success in the long term.
