The former NBA star lays out Kevin Durant in the Denver Nuggets Trade Package to support Nicola Jokic, “You can’t protect him…”

The former NBA player is hoping the Denver Nuggets will trade for Phoenix Suns superstar Kevin Durant.

The Denver Nuggets’ playoff journey ended following a massive 125-93 game 7 loss at the hands of the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Now the Nuggets have a longer offseason than they do. The team reached the semi-finals of the meeting, but there were obvious flaws in the current roster structure.

With that in mind, the Nuggets are expected to make some moves in the summer to enlarge the championship window around superstar Nikola Jokic.

Throughout the 2025 NBA playoffs, it was sometimes the Jokers seemed to put their team on their shoulders.

It led to a fanbase expressing anger over the lack of help around the 3X NBA MVP. To resolve this issue next season, former Dallas Maverick Theo Pinson proposed a Nuggets trade for Kevin Durant.

“This is what I’m doing. Jamal from MPJ, send the pick to Phoenix. Get Kevin Durant. Bruce Brown back.

“If Kevin Durant is there, we can’t protect him (Jokicci),” Pinson said on the Run Your Race podcast.

On paper, the partnership between Durant and Jokick sounds deadly. But, as Pinson said, franchises need to add important role players to do this job.

Otherwise, potential deals simply hamper the team’s depth and allow the nugget to continue the cycle of bouncing back before the final of the meeting.

At the age of 36, Durant is undoubtedly in Twilight, his NBA career. KD is still an All-Star caliber player, but his fitness has been a major concern over the past few years.

So the deal with the Nuggets could be something the current Phoenix Suns superstar needs to win another title.

“This may be what he’s looking for, because now he doesn’t have the legs that he had the place I used to get the bucket every time. Let’s do our attacks again. Attacks are a joke,” Pinson continued.

“I don’t know how you can really protect that team,” he concluded.

It will be interesting to see if Denver is trying to get closer to the Sands for the Durant trade. After all, the Suns threw a kitchen sink to get KD in hopes of winning the NBA championship.

It seems there is a minor confusion in the original headline about the teams involved in the trade.
