Chelsea could reportedly be an option for Bayern Munich centre-back Kim Min-jae as his future at the Allianz Arena remains uncertain.
According to Christian Falk in his latest exclusive column for CF Bayern Insider, Bayern are open to selling Kim for a reasonable price to fund the acquisition of another defender.
It remains to be seen whether Chelsea will definitely prioritize Kim, but the South Korean international appears to be one of a number of names on the list in that area of the pitch.
This comes amid reports that the Blues are considering Harry Maguire as a surprise transfer target.
Chelsea are looking for an experienced defender and Kim Min-jae could fit the bill.
Kim may not have lived up to expectations during his time at Bayern, but he is a quality player with a wealth of experience.
Given how young this Chelsea squad is, bringing in a player like this could make a lot of sense, even in the short term.
CFC are having problems at the back, with the likes of Trevor Chalobah and Tosin Adarabioyo not performing well, while Wesley Fofana and Levi Colwill have been plagued by injury problems.
So a link between Kim and Maguire could make sense for the west London giants, with the Telegraph recently reporting that a central defender is a priority.
Who else could Chelsea target defensively?
Another player to watch could be Rennes’ talented young centre-back, Jeremy Jacquet.
However, Fabrizio Romano also said on his YouTube channel that the deal could be complex and expensive.
Jacquet looks like an elite prospect and could be a good long-term investment, but a proven player like Kim could also ultimately help Chelsea replace Thiago Silva.
