Aston Villa have finally achieved a breakthrough in negotiations to sign Tammy Abraham with Besiktas and are now close to re-signing the striker.

After a protracted saga involving complex negotiations across three clubs, the Premier League side have struck a deal to bring the 28-year-old forward back to Villa Park.

Aston Villa close in on signing Tammy Abraham as he accepts medical booking

Journalist Ben Jacobs reports that Aston Villa have reached a verbal agreement with Besiktas, pending final details.

Jacobs told X that optimism had been high throughout the week despite the complex nature of the deal, which required multiple visits by club officials to Turkey.

Abraham has already agreed personal terms with Villa and is keen to return to the club where he spent a significant loan spell during the 2018/19 season.

In a subsequent update, Mr Jacobs confirmed that Mr Abraham had been given permission to travel to the UK, with a medical check scheduled for Saturday.

The deal is thought to have a transfer fee of £18 million and will see 19-year-old defender Yashin Ozcan, currently on loan at Anderlecht, head to Besiktas as part of the exchange.

Tammy Abraham will immediately improve Aston Villa’s attack

Abraham’s arrival comes at a crucial time for Unai Emery’s side. With Donyell Malen’s recent departure to Roma, Villa have been in the market for quality options to provide competition and support for Ollie Watkins.

His previous stint at Villa Park remains a fond memory for supporters. He played a pivotal role in the club’s promotion to the top flight, scoring 26 goals in 40 appearances during the 2018/19 Championship season.

He returns as an experienced international with European pedigree and is expected to fit seamlessly into Emery’s tactical set-up as Villa continue to put pressure on Arsenal, who are seven points clear at the top of the league.

Abraham’s amazing goalscoring form

The striker returns to England in top form. Abraham has revitalized his career in Turkey, scoring 13 goals in 26 competitive games for Besiktas this season.

His history as a goalscorer is well established. Prior to his time with Spel Lig, he scored 37 goals for AS Roma, including a key role in winning the Conference League.
