In today’s Premier League match, Liverpool were behind Bournemouth 2-1 due to poor defense of both goals.

The Reds have had defensive issues for much of the season, but have shown signs of improvement in that department recently.

Still, Liverpool’s performance today was by no means enough, with Evanilsson taking the blame for poor play from all three players: Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez and Alisson Becker, as the Cherries took the lead in the 26th minute.

It was once again all too easy for Bournemouth as Alex Jimenez doubled the home team’s advantage just seven minutes later.

Watch a clip of Bournemouth’s goal against Liverpool this evening below. The Athletic’s James Pearce described it as a “terrifying” goal for Arne Slott’s side…

“VAR check…goal awarded. What a horrible few minutes for Liverpool. Two horrible goals conceded,” Pearce wrote on X.

It’s fair to say that this is far from enough for a top team like Liverpool, who have appeared to have lost their way this season.

Although they easily won the Premier League title last season, they now look like they will struggle to break into the top four.

There is no doubt that Liverpool will struggle to come back from this match and the season as a whole will likely end in disappointment.

The Merseyside giants are likely to finish outside the top four, and I don’t see them as a team that can realistically compete for the Champions League.

There is no doubt that pressure will be on Slott, who oversaw a huge spending spree in the summer, with the club’s big players such as Alexander Isak, Florian Wirtz and Hugo Ekitike failing to live up to expectations.
