Junior Alvarado Targets Third Stakes Victory on Pegasus Day; Grand Job Returns with Insider Insights

Bell Tower Thoroughbred and Medallion Racing’s Grand Job, returning to competition after an eight-month hiatus, showed impressive strength down the stretch to claim a popular victory in the $225,000 Inside Information (G2) Presented by MyRacehorse on Saturday at Gulfstream Park.

Jockey Junior Alvarado secured his fourth win of the day, marking his third stakes victory following successes with Knightsbridge in the Fred W. Hooper (G3) and Destino d’Oro in the Pegasus mare Turf (G2). Both Grand Job and Knightsbridge are under the guidance of Hall of Fame trainer Bill Mott.

Jody’s Pride and One Magic Filly led the quarter-mile in 22.63 seconds, with Grand Job finishing third, comfortably positioned three-wide. Grand Job, at odds of $6.20, took a narrow lead midway through the race, clocking 45.06 seconds for the half, and persevered on the fast main track to win by two and three-quarter lengths, finishing with a time of 1:21.41.

Sterling Silver secured second place, followed in order by Claret Beret, Harruff, Dazzling Move, Beyond Belief, Necessity, Jody’s Pride, One Magic Filly, Indy Bay, and Verity. Patricia Ann was withdrawn from the race.

Grand Job, a 5-year-old filly sired by Justify out of the Isigur mare Sureroot (GB), previously finished second by less than a length to Dazzling Move in the Royal Delta (G3) at Gulfstream last winter, her sole previous stakes race. She won an optional claiming allowance in March and led early in a six-furlong sprint on November 27 before fading late and taking a break afterward.

Bred by Fullberry in Kentucky, Grand Job began her racing career in Ireland at age two after being purchased for $105,000 at the 2024 Keeneland September Yearling Sale by Fergus Galvin’s agency.

The Inside Information Stakes honors Ogden Mills Phipps, a homebred daughter of 1995 champion mare Private Account. This Hall of Fame racehorse claimed the inaugural graded stakes victory in the 1994 Bonnie Miss (G2), now recognized as the Gulfstream Park Oaks.

Quotes from Inside Information provided by MyRacehorse (G3):

Winning jockey Junior Alvarado (Grand Job): “It’s been a fantastic day. I’ve been riding some lively, talented horses. This filly has been ready for a while, and today she delivered. I just went along for the ride.”

Winning trainer Bill Mott (Grand Job): “We always believed she had the ability. Watching Knightsbridge’s and her form, when they were winning early on, they seemed unbeatable. Coming out from maiden races, they looked very promising, and with time, they matured into stakes-caliber horses. That development was key.”
