Despite negotiations between the clubs and the player’s apparent desire to seek new challenges, the Reds’ hierarchy took a late turn.

Transfer insider Ben Jacobs has shared the latest developments regarding ‘X’ and has made it clear that although a move is close, the risk of him leaving is too high given Liverpool’s current defensive situation.

“Andy Robertson will remain at Liverpool as is. Liverpool do not feel they are in a position to sell him at this time.

“Liverpool considered an offer from Spurs worth over £5 million including add-ons, and also considered recalling Kostas Tsimikas, but have decided not to proceed at this time.

“Robertson behaved professionally throughout the negotiations. Although he was open to Spurs, he did not budge for a move.”

It has been suggested that Liverpool’s approval of Robertson’s move to Tottenham could lay the groundwork for a summer move for Micky van de Ven.

However, with the Reds backing out of the deal, the Merseyside club may not be able to establish that advantage in future negotiations.

Since joining from Hull City in 2017, Robertson has been at the heart of Liverpool’s defense and has won every major trophy.

By keeping him for the final six months of his contract, Liverpool ensured the Anfield fan favorite received a well-deserved grand farewell at the end of the season.

His veteran presence and leadership will be essential, even if he currently plays second fiddle to Kerkes, as the club still fights for a top-four finish and European honors.

For Liverpool fans, seeing their ‘working class hero’ finish the season in red was a fitting conclusion to his legendary Merseyside story.
