Manchester United have named Marc Casado as a potential summer signing, with Football Insider reporting that the Barcelona midfielder is open to pushing for a move to Old Trafford.
The 22-year-old has emerged as one of several options United are considering to replace Casemiro, who will leave the club as a free agent at the end of the season.
Strengthening the midfield has been a top priority for Manchester United this year.
With Casemiro’s departure confirmed and midfield instability continuing, the club are determined to reshape the center of the pitch with younger, more dynamic talent.
Man United have made signing midfield players a top priority.
United have been linked with several emerging Premier League midfielders, including Elliott Anderson (Nottingham Forest), Adam Wharton (Crystal Palace), Carlos Bareva (Brighton) and Joao Gomez (Wolves), but Casado’s name has risen to prominence and has entered the conversation.
Casado feels his opportunities for Barcelona are very limited. The midfielder has played just 634 minutes in La Liga for the Spanish giants this season.
Despite impressing managers with his positional intelligence, ball-winning ability and composure in possession, competition in Barcelona’s midfield remains fierce, with the likes of Pedri, Gabi, Frenkie de Jong and Fermin López occupying key roles.
As a result, Casado is now thought to be actively seeking more consistent senior minutes that Man United can realistically offer.

His profile is very much in line with what United are looking for: a young, energetic defensive midfielder who can anchor the midfield, advance the ball and press aggressively.
Man Utd see Casado as a great opportunity, especially given Barcelona’s financial constraints and the player’s desire for a bigger role.
United believe they may be able to negotiate a favorable contract as the Catalan club needs to reduce player burdens to manage salary restrictions and squad size.
His interest in the move has been described as “genuine” and the player reportedly sees United as a club where he can play regularly and continue to develop at the highest level.
