Xavi Vierge is undergoing an injury operation in Worldsbk, Czech Republic.

The Honda Riders were caught up in an incident involving Jonathan Rare and Alvaro Bautista during the weekend World Superbike Championship Round.

Vierge crashed at his first Chicane during race two on Sunday.

It was confirmed on Tuesday.

“The damage was maintained in Race 2 of the recent Czech Round in the Autodrom, who was caught up in a multi-rider crash on Turn 1.

“Following the initial medical evaluation in the circuit, Vierge soon returned to Spain and received further evaluations by Dr Xavier Mir, of the University of Dexeus Hospital, Barcelona.

“Detailed examinations confirmed the need for surgical interventions to stabilize the fractured bone.

“The procedure included inserting four screws to secure the bone and was completed successfully.

“As fully committed as before, Vierge is already focused on recovery and will soon begin an intensive rehabilitation program.

“His treatment plan includes physical therapy and high pressure chamber sessions with the aim of accelerating the recovery process.

“Xavi’s goal is to get back on track for the upcoming Pirelli Emilia-Romagna round, which will be held at the Misano World Circuit “Marco Simoncelli” on June 13th-15th.

“The Honda HRC team will soon be providing the latest updates on Xavi Vierge’s recovery.”

Yamaha Rider Lear was given a double long lap penalty on his side of the incident.

However, Rea claimed he was being blamed – he offered an apology to the affected rider.
