Following a record-breaking 2025 sales season, Ocala Breeders Sales Company (OBS) is set to kick off 2026 with its first live auction at the January Winter Mix Sale on January 27th. The event will showcase 307 cataloged lots, including supplements, featuring yearlings, broodmares, and broodmare prospects. The single-session auction starts at 11 a.m. ET.

Simultaneously, the OBSOnline January Racing-Age and Two-Year-Old Horse Sale will begin accepting bids at noon ET on January 27th and continue through January 30th, with several horses available for preview during the live sale. Bidding closes at noon ET on January 30th, and interested buyers can explore the offerings at obsonline.com.

The 2025 thoroughbred auction market showed remarkable resilience and growth, exemplified by OBS’s new records in juvenile training sales and overall improvements at the October yearling sale. There is strong demand, particularly for short-year-olds, encouraging sellers to remain optimistic about continued market gains. Colin Brennan, a contractor at Highlander Training Center, noted that early buyers are willing to invest more upfront to potentially save costs in the future, signaling confidence in the market’s strength. He also highlighted improvements in the mid-market segment, although the lower-end market continues to face challenges.

Prominent graduates of past Winter Mix Sales include multiple Grade 1 winners and millionaires such as White Avario, Casa Creed, Medina Spirit, and Speech, along with notable performers like Federal Judge, Midnight Stroll, St. Joe Bay, and Dazzling Dame, who recently won the Busanda Stakes and stands fourth on the Road to the Kentucky Oaks leaderboard.

The 2026 Winter Mixed Sale features yearlings from leading sires such as Authentic, Charlatan, Early Boating, Essential Quality, Garvin, Golden Pal, Hard Spun, Jackie’s Warrior, Independence Hall, Mandalon, Maxfield, Maximus Mischief, Mystic Guide, Omaha Beach, Roadster, Speaker’s Corner, Tiz the Law, Verifying, Win Win, and notable horses from stallions like Winn. The catalog also includes yearlings by OBS graduates Buccello, Colonel Liam, Golden Scents, Kantaros, Mithole, Yaupon, and offspring of Nashville, along with first crops from sires Arcangelo, Annapolis, Country Grammar, Dr. Sibel, Doppelganger, Endorsed, Fulsome, Gunite, Papacap, Proxy, Simplification, Taiba, and Zandon.

In addition, the sale will present a daughter of seven-time leading sire and OBS graduate Into Mischief, daughters of elite stallions Candy Ride (ARG) and Tapit, and mares in foal to promising sires Dornoch and Maxfield, along with established sires Cozan, Leinster, and Midshipman.

The full catalog is available online at obssales.com and in print at select retail locations. The sale will be live-streamed on the OBS website as well as on DRF, TDN, BloodHorse, and Hipismo.net platforms.

OBS continues to offer online bidding during the sale. Buyers can register for bid approval and access the bidding interface through the OBS website. The internet bidding platform has been upgraded, and existing users are required to reset their passwords via the new login page at bid.obsonline.com/login.

For mobile users, the equineline Sales Catalog app provides access to the catalog on iPads, enabling features such as downloading catalogs, real-time updates, note-taking, and advanced search and rating options. More details and downloads are available at equineline.com.

Sales results will be frequently updated during the event on the OBS website, which also offers news on OBS alumni, upcoming schedules, nominations, credit inquiries, travel tips, and other information for consignors and buyers. For inquiries, contact obs@obssales.com.
