Manchester United delivered a surprising blow to Arsenal with a 3-2 victory at the Emirates on Sunday, marking the second consecutive triumph for caretaker manager Michael Carrick. Arsenal took an early lead with an own goal by Lisandro Martinez, but United responded with a strike from Brian Mbeumo and went on to secure the win with goals from Patrick Dorg and substitute Matheus Cunha, effectively quashing Arsenal’s title aspirations.

Arsenal started strong but had luck on their side when Bukayo Saka set up Martin Odegaard, whose shot was deflected in by Martinez, giving the Gunners a 1-0 advantage.

Manchester United quickly bounced back, with Bruno Fernandes missing a couple of good chances before Mbeumo found the net, taking advantage of a poor backpass from Martin Zubimendi to level the score.

The second half brought excitement as Dorg scored a stunning volley, turning the game in United’s favor at 2-1, assisted by Fernandes’ clever pass.

In an attempt to spark a comeback, manager Mikel Arteta made four substitutions, introducing Ben White, Victor Gokeres, Eberechi Eze, and Mikel Merino, but Arsenal struggled to convert their opportunities.

Inevitably, a set piece led to the equalizing goal when Merino capitalized on a missed punch from Lamence and scored from close range. However, United responded urgently, with Cunha securing the win by scoring a remarkable goal shortly after.

Goal A look at Manchester United’s players from the Emirates encounter…

His tactical decisions in substituting Mbeumo and Cunha in the second half proved astute, leading to the crucial winning goal.
