Chelsea are reportedly confident of pursuing a move for Real Betis centre-back Natan, who they are aiming to sign for 40 million euros in January.
The 24-year-old has had an impressive time in La Liga and it is expected that there could be plenty of competition for his signature before Deadline Day.
This is according to a report in Spanish newspaper Fichajes, which claims that Chelsea are optimistic that they can win the transfer bid if they receive an offer of 40 million euros.
However, the Blues could face competition from Real Madrid, who are also known to be in the market for a new defender.
With Chelsea potentially facing a transfer battle from Real Madrid, where will Natan end up?
Chelsea may be able to deal with this by adding to inconsistent players such as Tosin Adarabioyo and Trevor Chalobah, but Levi Colwill and Wesley Fofana have proven injury-prone in recent times.
As Fabrizio Romano reported earlier this week, CFC have brought back Aaron Anselmino from his loan to Borussia Dortmund as they continue to struggle to sign Jeremy Jacquet…
This could make Natan a good replacement for the west London giants, but he could be a player to keep an eye on as Real also have serious problems at the back at the moment.
According to a separate report from Fichajes, Los Blancos are also interested in signing Tottenham’s Cristian Romero, who could be another defensive option.
Nathan will have a big decision to make, as many top clubs are interested in him, but choosing the best option may not be easy.
It may be natural for Brazilian players to be tempted to remain in Spain by choosing Madrid, but while the Premier League is currently regarded as the best league in world football, many players are often attracted by the possibility of living in London.
