  • Ipswich make offer for Dalinga

Ipswich Town have now reportedly submitted an offer to sign the Serie A forward in place of Leeds United’s Joel Pillow ahead of deadline day.

Neil admits Ipswich is a ‘perfect fit’

The Tractor Boys are looking for attacking reinforcements this month as they look to make an immediate return to the Premier League. Kieran McKenna’s side currently sit third in the Championship, five points behind Middlesbrough, who have begun to fall down the table under Frank Lampard, and eight points behind Coventry City.

Given that Ipswich also have games against top-flight teams coming up, the race for the Championship title could become a hot mess before the end of the season.

That’s why sales in January are so important. Officials at Portman Road have already welcomed Dan Neal and Anis Mehmeti and are aiming to welcome further additions before Monday’s deadline.

Speaking on the club’s website for the first time since putting pen to paper, Neil said: “I have been at Sunderland for a very long time and it has been an incredible chapter in my life and career, but I am now ready for the next chapter and after much consideration it was clear that Ipswich was the perfect fit for it.”

“The way the manager wants to play football and the way I like to play are basically the same, so it’s a great fit for me to continue to develop as a player while hoping to be successful here.”

It is also unlikely that the midfielder will be a final candidate. According to recent reports, Ipswich expressed an interest in signing Pillow from Leeds this month, but were rebuffed by the Elland Road side.

The forward has fallen down the pecking order recently but looks likely to remain in Yorkshire for the foreseeable future, with Ipswich shifting their focus to other options.

Ipswich make offer for Dalinga

According to reports in Italy, reported by Sport Witness, Ipswich have currently submitted an offer to sign Tis Dalinga from Bologna, but no decision has yet been made on the player’s future.

The 25-year-old is in dire need of a move after starting just seven games in Serie A so far this season, but it sums up a spell in Italy that should be forgotten.

However, the Dutchman is still full of talent and it’s worth remembering how successful he was at Toulouse before things went sour at Bologna.

It was during his time in France that Dalinga was hailed as a “great move” by talent scout Jacek Kulig. Now looking to get back to his best form, he could earn similar praise at Ipswich.
