This Friday’s Gulfstream Rainbow 6 Jackpot Set to Soar at $200,000!

On Friday, Gulfstream Park will host a 10-race card featuring the 20-cent Rainbow 6 wager, with the jackpot pool expected to climb to around $200,000. The action kicks off at 12:20 p.m., with the Rainbow 6 bet covering races five through ten.

The popular multi-race bet last paid out multiple winners $71,527.70 on Pegasus World Cup Day, January 24. The biggest Rainbow 6 jackpot for the current championship tournament was a sizable $416,348.44, awarded on January 8.

Friday’s program starts with the Starter Option Claimer for 3-year-old fillies, a five-furlong turf race marking race five. Among the competitors is Nacho Problem, the third favorite, who previously ran in a similar race on January 4; this will be the first event aiming for a $35,000 purse for trainer Brad Cox. Four winners emerged from comparable races, including Glansing Myway, guided by co-event leader Carlos David.

Race seven highlights the first special weight event for three-year-old fillies, stretching seven and a half furlongs on the turf. Leinster-bred Elenique, who placed second and third in her initial starts while winning by a combined two lengths, will race without blinkers and will not use Lasix for the first time. Joining her is Lion Lake, making a comeback after a close third-place finish in a maiden turf contest over a mile and a sixteenth on December 24 at Gulfstream.

Academia, a colt by Into Mischief, returns after a layoff since finishing fifth in a seven-furlong maiden special at Saratoga last August and will be racing on turf for the first time in three starts. Pan Pan, the 2018 Florida Derby (G1) champion by Audible, narrowly defeated Lion Lake by half a length on Christmas Eve in a race prominently led by Brat Pack, who is slated to run on Saturday in the $175,000 Sweetest Chant.

In race nine, a 3-year-old Florida-bred filly will run five and a half furlongs on the Tapeta all-weather track. The contest is led by Truro, who triumphed in his debut last May after rallying from behind over five furlongs on Gulfstream’s turf. Drama, with two wins and two second-place finishes in seven starts, last dominated by winning by nine lengths in a main track race on November 16.

The finale, race ten, is a five-furlong maiden special weight turf race for 3-year-old fillies, featuring a full field of 14 including Anne Rose and Lexi V, who also qualified. The slight favorite at 9-2 is Horsed Around, prepared by co-tournament leader Safi Joseph Jr., making his first start since finishing fourth in a five-furlong turf debut on December 22. Meanwhile, trainer Miguel Clement sends out Embrace, a $350,000 mare by Yaupon, who has recently shown strong form with a second, a win, a third, and another win on Gulfstream turf as of January 4.

The Rainbow 6 jackpot only pays out if there is a single unique ticket hitting all six winning races. If no unique tickets come in, 70% of the day’s pool goes to the ticket with the most winning races, and 30% rolls over to increase the jackpot for the next day.
